Pollination is how plants reproduce. Pollination is the act of moving pollen from the male anther (stamen) of a flower to the female stigma (pistil) of another flower.
Process:
- A flower's petals and fragrance attract insects.
- The insect arrives on the flower to collect nectar.
- The pollen sticks to this insect.
- The insect flies to another flower.
- There, the pollen from the anther (male part of a flower) is deposited onto the stigma of the new flower (the female reproductive part of a flower).
- This plant has now been fertilised.
- The ovary of the flower will turn into seeds that finally will fall down to become a new plant.
